UA 117 – EWR – HKG – 12 August 2013 – Economy Plus

United Airlines – UA 117 – New York/Newark, NJ (EWR – Liberty) to Hong Kong (HKG)

Flight Time: 16 hours 00 minutes

Distance: 8,060 miles

Aircraft: Boeing 777-200

Class: Economy Plus

In reality, the flight took about 15 hours. It left EWR late and I had 1 hour 5 minutes to switch planes. I had less than 25 minutes to get off the plane to my next flight UA895 to SIN. I made it with whole lot of running just 5 minutes before scheduled take-off but then, the flight was also delayed… (to be continued in the next post)

UA 117 first meal/dinner

Dinner served a few hours into the flight after the usual pretzel snack and drinks. Salad with cheese toppings came with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The greens were edible. Bread was larger than usual airline meal serving and came with butter. I chose rice with vegetables and chicken in brown sauce. The main entree was quite decent, though portion is more on the lesser side. For ‘dessert’, triple chocolate brownie (rich and tasty) and fortune cookie (from NY). The meal came with plastic utensils, not pictured, along with choice of beverage. Complimentary alcohol were red and white wine.

UA 117 second meal/breakfast?

Either breakfast (EST) or almost dinner meal (HKG). I had the Western choice of plain omelet (add pepper/salt to give flavor), beef patty (dry), and baked triangle of vegetable and dough (not sure what to call it but its pretty good). Bread in plastic and came with butter, blah. Cookie with almond on top was a nice touch. Meal came with choice of drinks.
