BR 0017 – SFO – TPE – 17 February 2014 – Economy

EVA Air – BR 0017 – San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)

Flight Time: 12 hours 50 minutes

Distance: 6,464 miles

Aircraft: Boeing 777-300

Class: Economy – Non-Elite SaverPass Coach Award (X)

This is not the Hello Kitty plane but Eva Air sure do promote it extensively.

Eva Air SFO Lounge

Initially was going to review EVA Air’s lounge in SFO but it was so small and full. Just took this picture of Hello Kitty and Sanrio friends on the entrance way of the lounge. I ended up hanging out at the United Club nearby, as suggested by the EVA Air ground staff. It was much bigger and very empty. Not much to report really, the usual UA lounge.

Every economy seat gets plastic-wrapped blanket, pillow, and a very basic pair of slippers.

BR 0017 SFO-TPE

Older personal in-flight screen but still bigger than the UA ones I’m used to. And Hello Kitty says Happy (Chinese) New Year!

Hello Kitty and fireworks for CNY!

Again, this is not one of the Hello Kitty planes. Those planes fly to and fro Los Angeles LAX and several destinations in East Asia.

Main course/late dinner, Eva Air standard as far as I recall. Braised beef with rice and vegetable entree along with bread roll, butter, salad with salmon, cut fruits, and dessert. Decent meal.

Second meal/breakfast menu choice of pork congee or egg omelet.

I went for the pork congee. Add fish floss to the main dish and it brings out a great flavor combo. It comes with sides of warm croissant and jam, some sort of filled tofu skin side (ono! enak! delish!), and cut fruits. Good meal!
